Greg Greenway

Richmond native Greg Greenway spent many years in the Boston music scene and considers the height of his achievements as having "Driving in Massachusetts" played on Car Talk. He has eight solo albums to his credit and three additional albums with the harmony trio Brother Sun. Now returned to the Richmond area, we are pleased to welcome him to the Shady Grove stage

Dana Robinson

Dana has been part of Shady Grove since its very start and returns for his 11th perform-ance for us. He has recently released his 14th album, The Sound of the Word, which merges contemporary songwriting and Southern old-time music into a cohesive body of work that combines vivid, songwrit-ing with fiddle tunes, old-time banjo, and elegant melodies.

From China to Appalachia

American Roots artists Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer join with Chinese classical hammered dulcimer player Chao Tian and return to Shady Grove in a show that combines music from China to Appalachia and beyond. Instrumentation includes Chinese hammered dulcimer, gourd banjo, five-string banjo, ukulele, guitars, dumbek, cello-banjo and mandolin.

Newberry and Verch

Growing up, Joe Newberry and April Verch absorbed traditions of home and hearth – in his Missouri Ozarks and her Ott-awa Valley of Canada. Although they are on the road much of the year, the two musicians are fond of saying that they are rarely homesick, because their music means they always have a bit of home with them wherever they go.

The Honey Dewdrops

The Honey Dewdrops return to the Shady Grove for their lucky 13th performance and have been captivating audiences since 2009. Their latest album, Here in the Mountains (2024), draws inspiration from the origin story of a close friend and continues their exploration of songs rooted in connection and humanity.

Dom Flemons “The American Songster” is a Founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, the newest inductee in the Ameri-can Banjo Hall of Fame, a GRAMMY Winner, and an American roots icon. The Traveling Wildfires is a brand new Black String Band super-group that presents an exciting, high energy show with songs  that reach into the heart of all the American roots genres.
